ClickHouse is an open-source, high-performance columnar OLAP database management system for real-time SQL analytics. It processes hundreds of millions to over a billion rows and tens of gigabytes of data per server per second, exceeding comparable column-oriented database management systems on the market.

Yandex, Europe’s leading internet service provider, developed the technology a decade ago to power its massive web analytics platform. Our ClickHouse team is ecstatic about this. Since it was made available as an open-source solution, ClickHouse has gained widespread acceptance from well-known businesses like Uber, Comcast, eBay, and Cisco.

Its technology processes hundreds of millions to over a billion rows and tens of gigabytes of data per server per second and operates 100-1000 times faster than conventional database management systems. The technology has received praise for its dependability, user-friendliness, and fault tolerance with a global user base. To identify malicious traffic and provide customers with rich analytics, ClickHouse assists us in efficiently and reliably analyzing logs from trillions of Internet requests.

The OLAP database management system’s creators, based in San Francisco, announced they had raised 250 million in Series B funding at a valuation of 2 billion, data taken from clickhouse 2b altimeterroofbloomberg.

The rise of a once-in-a-decade company is indicated by the superior speed of ClickHouse’s technology and the speed with which industry leaders have adopted it. With this funding, plans to invest heavily in global expansion and double the company’s size this year and next. This growth capital will fuel the vision to bring ClickHouse to the global market, radically changing how businesses manage data analytics at scale.

ClickHouse growth

ClickHouse would accelerate the development of its commercial-grade cloud solution that is secure, compliant, and user-friendly for any customer by raising 250 million in Series B funding. ClickHouse plans to make significant investments in global expansion with this funding, doubling its size this year and again in the following year.

Large and small businesses are adopting it because it significantly enhances data processing efficiency, according to ClickHouse CEO Aaron Katz. With this recent investment, we now have the resources necessary to fulfill our ambitious mission of being the first choice for analytical database management systems.

Managing the data

Kevin Wang, a partner at Altimeter Capital, stated, “We see a massive opportunity for ClickHouse to move the world of data infrastructure and analytics forward. This growth capital will fuel the vision to bring ClickHouse to the global market, radically changing how businesses manage data analytics at scale. We are thrilled to collaborate with Yury, Aaron, Alexey, and the world-class ClickHouse team to create a market-leading and iconic company.

Main factors of ClickHouse DBMS

The values are not saved in any way. To avoid storing their length number next to the values, constant-length values, for instance, are supported. A group can be extended by including servers. Each shard in the system is a collection of replicas, making the system a cluster of shards. ClickHouse uses asynchronous multi-master replication. After data is written to any available replica, it is distributed to all other replicas.

A zookeeper is used to coordinate processes but is not involved in the execution and processing of queries. It refers to the capacity to process and store megabytes of data. It works with a small number of tables with lots of columns. Many rows extracted from the database can be used in queries, but only a small number of columns. High throughput is required for processing a single query, up to billions of rows per server. With instant queries, incidents can be analyzed, and service metrics like error rates and response times can be monitored.
